Recognizing Thoughtful Reader Feedback
Beta readers who share thoughtful responses across multiple chapters may be invited to have their contribution acknowledged in the published book. The goal is to recognize readers whose comments help clarify, strengthen, or improve the story.
Acknowledgement levels
Bronze, Silver, and Gold
These levels are intended to encourage steady, thoughtful participation across the beta-reading process. There are no right or wrong responses. The levels recognize sustained participation; useful feedback can include honest reactions, questions, confusion, surprises, and memorable moments.
Silver
Thoughtful feedback on 20 chapters.
Gold
Thoughtful feedback through the full beta-reading arc, such as 30 chapters.
What each level includes
Recognition That Can Grow With Participation
Each level recognizes a reader's sustained participation in helping an author develop and improve a novel in progress.
Bronze
- Chosen first name, nickname, or code name listed in the book acknowledgements.
- Optional updates about the book's progress and publication.
- Recognition as a beta reader who contributed thoughtful feedback to the project.
Silver
- Silver-level acknowledgement in the published book.
- Early publication update or book-offer notice.
- Optional author reference letter confirming thoughtful beta-reader participation.
- Recognition for sustained feedback across a larger section of the manuscript.
Gold
- Prominent acknowledgement as part of the core beta reader group.
- Early publication update or book-offer notice.
- Optional personalized reference letter describing sustained contribution across the project.
- Possible invitation to share reader reactions to selected final materials, such as cover concepts, chapter artwork, or back-cover copy.
- Recognition as a continuing reader whose feedback helped shape the manuscript across the full beta-reading arc.
Reference letters are available for Silver and Gold readers whose feedback is thoughtful, respectful, and substantial enough for the author to describe their participation accurately. Final creative and publishing decisions remain with the author.
How Feedback Is Tracked
Email is used as the private contact method for connecting feedback across chapters. A parent or guardian email address may be used for younger readers.
Anonymous feedback is welcome, but it cannot be counted toward Bronze, Silver, or Gold acknowledgement levels because there is no reliable way to connect it across chapters.
How Names Appear
Public acknowledgements can use a chosen first name, nickname, or code name. A real full name is not required. For younger readers, parent or guardian permission will be requested before a name or nickname is included in published acknowledgements.
